About Me

Ellie-pinktop-June2020

Let me start by highlighting my crowning glory: a piece I once wrote was nominated for a National Magazine Award. The article was called “Taking Back the Night,” and the category was Personal Journalism – a slightly fancier term than “memoir.” It was subsequently reprinted in “Essays: Patterns and Perspectives” by Oxford University Press.

My life can be categorized rather neatly:

1960s – hippie/folkie

1970s – babies; back to school

1980s – social work

1990s – work in the film/TV business; freelance writing/editing/
proofreading for many magazines; publication and sale of over 5,000 copies of parenting booklets. See my film credits on IMDb.

2001 – 2016 (retired) – work in several non-profits.

I’m enjoying writing this blog immensely; it’s had over 30,000 visitors from 130 countries. A big thank-you goes to my daughter, Kathryn, who helped me understand the basics of WordPress.

My four books, “Surviving Hollywood North: Crew Confessions from an Insider,” “First Kiss and other True Fiction,” “How to be an (Almost) Perfect Parent: Dos and Don’ts from a former Family Support Worker,” and “What’s Wrong With Me?!” are available at these fine little online shops:

Amazon.com
Amazon.ca
…and other countries too!

In sum: I’m a woman, mother, friend, blogger, freelance editor/proofreader, author, kitty mom and self-styled humourist who usually sees the upside of things. Also, and this is important – I never met a flea market I didn’t like.

If you ever visit me, I would serve us bagels with cream cheese and coffee (iced, in summer), and would warn you off Annie’s favourite chair, unless you like having cat hair adhere to the backside of your clothing all day.

Thank you for touching down on my blog!

    2. Please add me now to your current Facebook page, I’m trying to build a type of social bubble, here in Montreal, and rebuild myself in these trying times. I have requested as Donna Wilson, no Wild Munchkin alias

    1. According to Wikipedia: A T-shirt (or tee shirt, or tee) is a style of unisex fabric shirt, named after the T shape of the body and sleeves. It is normally associated with short sleeves, a round neck line known as a crew neck, with no collar.
