My 100th post and beyond…

My last post was my 100th, since the end of June ’15 when I started this blog. Not too shabby, I think – considering I had all but stopped writing, in favour of the drudge (easier?) work of proofing and editing the words of others. But somehow I got the bug to give it a go again.

Some tiny little voice in my head said, “Start, you never know what’ll happen. You just might get into it.”

So I started the blog – and it almost became a compulsion! The more I wrote, the more I wanted to write. Most of my posts are rather short. But just the reminder that, yes, I am still capable of expressing a thought through reasonably articulate written words… Yowza! It’s been fun!

Now here’s the cherry on the sundae – if you’ll forgive a clichΓ© (Oh please, just this once!): I have started writing a book.

Not only have I started writing a book, I have two more ideas for books in the pipeline. There, I said it. You are witnesses! Now I just (!) have to make it all happen. And I promise I will. Because if there’s one thing I’ve learned now that I’m officially old (boooo!), it’s that virtually nothing is impossible if we want it to happen badly enough.

For me, there is also that aspect of “the fierce urgency of now,” if I may dare quote Martin Luther King. In that same speech of Dr. King, he also said “Procrastination is still the thief of time.” I have to face it – life is finite. It’s now or never.

Wish me luck! πŸ™‚

  1. I have also found that writing begets writing. Stringing thoughts together in a meaningful way is so satisfying. Although I am in a bit of a slump, your words have virtually kicked me in the butt and I will get back to finishing my second novel. Thank you and good luck!

  2. May words find their way effortlessly onto the page and not get stuck in traffic, honking fruitlessly at all the grammar and literary detritus that would hold them back. Just say no to writing road blocks!
